Endowed and Restricted Support
Making a meaningful investment in the ongoing success of today’s young Jaspers, faithful benefactors once again provided vital scholarship funds and related aid this past year.
Their uplifting commitment significantly strengthened our 170-year-old Lasallian Catholic mission by ensuring that all students can pursue their Manhattan University education — regardless of means.
During the 2022–23 academic year, alumni and friends continued to create endowed scholarships — lasting in perpetuity — by making generous gifts of $50,000 or more. The University disburses the interest that accrues in a given year so the principal remains intact. This past academic year, 768 students received about $4.33 million in endowed scholarship aid — roughly a 37% and 35% increase over 2021–22, respectively.
In addition, dedicated donors also provided aid through restricted scholarships. These funds do not accrue interest; awards are immediately allocated to recipients or specific programs. In 2022–23, 171 students received $1,010,415 in restricted scholarships, a 66% and 114% jump over the previous academic year, respectively.
As always, named scholarships are a lasting way to honor a cherished relative, professor or other special individual. The entire Manhattan University community is deeply grateful to every gracious benefactor who provides this much-needed aid for our students.
