2022 Business Analytics Competition

The seventh annual Business Analytics Competition was held virtually in April of 2022. The event boasted over 90 participants from 24 different colleges. This competition consisted of two rounds. Round one consisted of the participating teams presenting their slides using the supplied data. After the judges decided on their finalists, Round two began which allowed these finalists to revise and update their presentations.

Aside from the competition, there were esteemed keynote speakers.

  • Keynote Speakers

    Thad Dupper

    Thad Dupper is a well-known technology executive with assignments that include the CEO of Secure64, a cyber software company, and Chairman & CEO of Evolving Systems (NASDAQ: EVOL). He is currently the Founder and the CEO of Dupper Analytics, a cloud-based SaaS company headquartered in Colorado. Prior roles include senior management positions at Teradata and Dun & Bradstreet.

    Author of three techno-thriller novels, Mr. Dupper is also an Executive-in-Residence at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. In addition, Mr. Duper serves on the Finance Committee of the Archdiocese of Denver. 

    Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. he is a distinguished alumnus of Xaverian High School and Manhattan College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.

    Dr. Sankar Bokka

    Dr. Sankar Bokka is a principal scientist for CoreLogic Inc. As a principal scientist, Dr. Sankar Bokka has been actively involved in the growth of CoreLogic FNC since joining the company in 2006. With a background in theoretical mathematics and building technology businesses, Sankar works to define and bring to market innovative solutions for CoreLogic’s clients and the mortgage technology industry at large and supports 165M CoreLogic Valuation Service Division. 

    Dr. Sankar leads research delivering innovative and cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning to Real Estate Valuation Solutions and developing tomorrow’s touchless Appraisal review process. 

    Dr. Sankar has a Ph.D. in Mathematics and an MS in Chemical Engineering from The University of Mississippi with over 17 years of experience in the mortgage industry. He has authored many papers and patents relating to property valuation and appraisal workflow processes.

     

    Dr. Ensheng Dong

    Ensheng (Frank) Dong is a Ph.D. candidate and Louis M. Brown Engineering Fellow of the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering (CaSE) and the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. He is also a member of the Infectious Disease Dynamics (IDD) group at the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is interested in interdisciplinary research on network science, mobility modeling, spatial analysis, geo-visualization, and infectious diseases. His recent work includes forecasting the risk of measles in the US and the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs), predicting dengue outbreaks in Sri Lanka, building, and maintaining the JHU CSSE coronavirus dashboard, and modeling the global coronavirus pandemic.

    Dr. Joon Ro

    Joon Ro is currently a Senior Applied Scientist at Uber Freight, working on improving pricing algorithms and experimentation infrastructure. Before joining Uber Freight, Ro was an assistant professor of Marketing at Freeman School of Business, Tulane University. He earned a Ph.D. in quantitative marketing from McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin, specializing in empirical industrial organization and Bayesian economics.

    Dr. Danqing Wang

    Danqing Wang is a data science manager at Meta (formerly known as Facebook). She obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University in 2019, and a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Cornell University in 2011.
