Letter From the Dean

A very warm welcome from the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences! The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences at Manhattan University is a very special place where dedicated faculty, staff and administrators will guide and support you on your unique academic journey. We invite you to explore our offerings and hope you will consider joining our community of scholars.

Our Lasallian heritage is the foundation for everything we give to our students. We are committed to helping all students succeed in a caring environment that honors diversity, inclusion and the distinct attributes of each individual. You will be afforded opportunities to scaffold your disciplinary passions within a framework of the humanities, liberal arts, mathematics, natural and physical sciences and social sciences. Elective components of our major curricula will allow you to explore other areas of interest, enhance knowledge in a specialized area of your major or construct minor sequences in other disciplines. In this way, you and your peers will broaden your critical-thinking skills, creative inquiry skills and social and cultural awareness to become successful professionals and stewards of the future.

The small classes and close student-faculty interactions in the Manhattan University Kakos School of Arts and Sciences generates an atmosphere conducive to research opportunities, and we expect that all students will take advantage of these within their major areas of study.

You will also be encouraged to explore experiential learning opportunities as a way to engage with potential career pathways, including study abroad, internships, our professional alumni mentoring program and research.
