What Set's Us Apart

The Manhattan University Difference

What Sets Us Apart

The minor in artificial intelligence gives students from all majors a genuine understanding of AI: how intelligent systems work, their limitations, and how to apply them responsibly. Developed jointly by faculty across Manhattan University's three schools, the curriculum is designed to be both accessible and academically rigorous.

Open to Every Major

Students in any discipline, from business to engineering to the liberal arts, can add structured AI instruction to their degree at Manhattan University.

Pathways for Every Background

Tailored tracks distinguish between students with prior programming coursework and those without, ensuring accessibility without lowering academic standards.

Beyond Tool Usage

Coursework moves past using AI applications toward understanding principles, design considerations, and the real limitations of intelligent systems.

Courses Across Three Schools

An AI core, drawn from the computing, business, and engineering departments, encourages students to learn beyond their home disciplines.

Responsible AI, By Design

Consistent with our Lasallian mission, students weigh the ethical and societal implications of AI, including bias, privacy, and accountability.

Upper-Level Depth

Students complete at least three courses from an AI core of existing upper-level offerings, ensuring conceptual depth and academic rigor.

The Manhattan Advantage

Why Study Artificial intelligence at Manhattan University?

Artificial intelligence now touches nearly every academic discipline and professional field, yet most students graduate having used AI tools without ever understanding how they work. Manhattan University's minor closes that gap, giving students in every major a systematic grounding in AI fundamentals: how intelligent systems function, where they fall short, and how to apply them responsibly in a chosen field. Because the curriculum is developed jointly by faculty across three schools, students see AI through the lenses of computing, business, and engineering rather than a single department. It's the kind of fluency employers increasingly expect, built on the judgment the Lasallian tradition demands.

Why Study in New York City

New York City runs on artificial intelligence, from the trading floors and hospitals deploying machine learning to the media, marketing, and public-sector organizations rethinking how they work. For students in every major, that makes the city a living case study: internships, projects, and faculty networks connect classroom concepts to the industries putting AI to work. Whatever field you're preparing for, studying minutes from this market means graduating with the fluency and perspective employers here and everywhere increasingly expect.

About

One Minor, Three Schools

The minor in artificial intelligence was developed jointly by faculty in computer science, business analytics, accounting, law, and electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering, a collaboration spanning all three of Manhattan University's schools. The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences anchors the computing core, the AACSB-accredited O'Malley School of Business connects AI to strategy and analytics, and the School of Engineering brings applied depth in intelligent systems. Grounded in the Lasallian Catholic mission and located near the heart of New York City, the three schools offer a minor that complements every major.
