Faith, Inclusion, and Service

A Mission-Focused Community that Values Every Student

At Manhattan University, your student will join a truly unique community. We are a mission-focused Lasallian Catholic university that promotes faith, respect, education, community, and social justice. Our tradition welcomes students of all faiths, including Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, and Jewish students, as well as those of other beliefs and none.

As Lasallians, we are committed to creating lasting social change by addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice. Your student will have access to community service projects in our local Bronx and Riverdale neighborhood, as well as service-immersion trips that take students into unfamiliar cultures in the U.S. and abroad to learn about social justice through hands-on service work.

Small Classes, Strong Mentorship

Your Student will be Known by Name, not by Number

Your student will not get lost in the crowd at Manhattan University. With an 11:1 undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of 18.1 students, our faculty know students individually and form mentoring relationships that often extend long beyond graduation.

Manhattan offers numerous undergraduate research programs that allow students to collaborate with faculty on original research, write academic papers, and present at professional conferences. These are opportunities many universities reserve for graduate students. Our Center for Graduate School and Fellowship Advisement supports students preparing for graduate study, and every student is paired with a dedicated academic advisor who meets with them regularly to discuss course registration, majors and minors, and career goals.
