Manhattan College is hosting a special fair trade fundraising event in partnership with FairTrade Caravans to benefit Lasallian Women of Hope (LWH), which delivers creative, effective and durable solutions to educational inequities for girls and women throughout the world. The countries that will benefit include Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Madagascar, Haiti and India.
FairTrade Caravans offers unique fair trade products that are high quality, ethically produced goods. Shoppers can find one-of-a-kind handcrafted goods from farmers and artisans from around the world, including holiday décor, gifts, jewelry, accessories and home goods, as well as chocolate, tea and coffee. Online orders will be shipped anywhere in the U.S. Purchasing fair trade products is a way of supporting fair pay, safe working conditions and sustainable practices.
Lasallian Women of Hope will receive 25% of product sales to fund a clean water system at a girl’s school in Kenya and expand the menstrual education program in India. Please help raise $500 or more to make this happen.
The fundraiser will run through Monday, December 12 at midnight and is live on the website now.
