Manhattan College Celebrates the 172nd Commencement Ceremonies
More than 1,000 Jaspers received their diplomas May 17-18, 2014, in Riverdale, N.Y.
The College community, faculty, family and friends gathered on May 17 and 18 to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 1,000 students receiving master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the Schools of Arts, Business, Education and Health, Engineering, Science, and Continuing and Professional Studies.
The festivities kicked off on Saturday afternoon, as nearly 300 students receiving master’s and bachelor’s degrees processed into Draddy Gymnasium at the Spring Commencement. The ceremony featured remarks from keynote speaker Dominick M. Servedio, P.E., executive chairman of STV Group, Inc., who was awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering. Read more.
Valedictorian Kelly Keane, a 2014 graduate of the College's mental health counseling program and a 2000 bachelor’s recipient, also addressed the class. Read more.
On Sunday afternoon, faculty, family members and friends gathered once again in Manhattan College’s Draddy Gymnasium to celebrate the achievements of nearly 750 graduating seniors earning degrees in some 40 major fields of study.
Carolyn Y. Woo, Ph.D., president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the ceremony and delivered the keynote address. Read more.

President Brennan O’Donnell concluded the 172nd Commencement Ceremonies with a benediction for the class of 2014.
“And finally, I ask for you that wherever you go and whatever you do, that the love you've known here at Manhattan College will forever make this place your heart's home.” O’Donnell said.
