Chemical Engineering Summer Program

Chemical Engineering Summer Program

From July 19 to 22, 2027, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, this four-day program introduces rising high school juniors and seniors to the discipline of chemical engineering. Participants gain an appreciation for the broad range of fields where chemical engineers play a vital role, including biotechnology, green and sustainable engineering, semiconductor materials, biomedicine, food engineering, renewable energy, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. As the program reminds students, chemical engineering is not just chemistry.

This immersive, hands-on program is led by faculty and students from the Chemical Engineering Department at Manhattan University.

Program Details

  • Dates: July 19-22, 2027
  • Duration: 4 days
  • Residential: No
  • Focus: Chemical Engineering
  • Eligibility: Students currently enrolled in 10th or 11th grade (rising juniors and seniors)

What to Expect

During the four days, students learn about the chemical engineering profession and its opportunities, participate in interactive activities and team-based challenges, engage with faculty through instruction and Q&A, interact with alumni and practicing engineers, tour laboratories and facilities, and learn about college applications, admissions, and financial aid. Those who complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion and a $75 application fee waiver toward Manhattan University's Chemical Engineering B.S. program.

"Manhattan University’s Chemical Engineering Summer Program was an amazing, engaging, and memorable experience. Being able to participate in so many hands-on labs, especially the chemical reactor lab, which I particularly enjoyed, really placed me in the shoes of a chemical engineer. The faculty was so kind, supportive, and passionate about what they do! They gave us the perfect balance of guidance during the labs while also giving us the creative freedom to experiment, test things for ourselves, and think independently. I would highly recommend the camp to anyone looking for an enriching summer experience that allows you to walk away not only feeling more knowledgeable, but also inspired."
