Activity Descriptions:

This camp session will help the student—regardless of their dance experience—improve their dance ability. The first part of the course will focus on the physical practice of contemporary dance techniques and analysis of some of the great compositions of modern dance. From there, the students will begin developing dances of their own. Group critique and individual feedback will help guide them as they hone their craft.

Students will also be allowed to select songs for class analysis to artistically enhance their dance creations. The four-day camp will end with a final performance that will showcase each dance project and then a visit to a professional dance studio in New York City, which will allow students to view the art form live and become familiar with ways to best enter the field.
