St. Margaret of Cortona - St. Gabriel School After School Program

The Manhattan University after-school program provides children in grades K-8 with daily homework support. Homework help includes reviewing upcoming exams taught by university students and experienced educators.

The Manhattan University after-school program is offered at St. Margaret of Cortona - St. Gabriel School at 452 W. 260th St. Bronx, NY 10471 .

The program starts on September 15th, 2025, and ends on June 19th, 2026. *On snow days, our program will be closed unless otherwise notified. We also follow St. Margaret of Cortona - St. Gabriel closures for school holidays and breaks.

Please note: Currently, the Manhattan University after-school program only serves students attending St. Margaret of Cortona - St. Gabriel.

    Do you offer discounts for siblings?

    Yes, we offer sibling discounts! When you enroll a sibling of a current participant, the second child receives a $100 per month discount. This discount also applies to a third sibling, if enrolled.

    What does a typical day look like?

    From Monday-Friday, students start the program with snack time and receive homework help and support afterward. 

    Can I prorate the service fee into only the days or weeks my child needs to go to after school?

    We do not prorate the monthly service fee.

    If I take my child off the program for one term, can my child usually return to the program?

    If you decide not to have your child continue in our program for one specific term. Your child may lose their place in our program. 

    Does the program run on half days?

    No, there is no after-school program when the school only opens for a half day. 

    How does this program differ from other after-school programs?

    What makes us different from other after-school programs is that our staff is made up of young adults who are currently enrolled in university. Our staff works directly with our students to enhance their education. Most of our staff are pursuing careers in education with the goal of teaching young children. Additionally, another portion of our staff is also made up of educators that have managerial and teaching experience in school settings

    Where is our after-school program located?

    What is the student-teacher ratio?

    Our student-teacher ratio is 10:1 for younger kids and 15:1 for older kids, which allows for a more personalized learning approach.

    Does this program offer field trips?

    No. All activities and classes are held at the school.

    What are the rules of this program?

    We follow the same rules and discipline procedures as during the school day. 

    How will my student get home after attending the Manhattan University after-school program?

    We do not provide any transportation for students to go home. Parents must pick their children up at 5:30 pm. Staff members are not permitted to transport students.

    How are activity teachers and staff members selected?

    All Manhattan University senior staff and human resources administrators identify, meet, and screen all activity teachers who participate in the after-school program. All staff members also complete an extensive background check and are at least 18 years of age.

    Does my child need to stay for the whole time?

    Pick-up and drop-off times are flexible. Parents can drop off their children later or pick them up earlier. If a child seems exhausted, guardians will be contacted to pick them up. To coordinate early or late pick-up/drop-off, contact the program coordinator in advance.

    How much does it cost to register?

    Does this after-school program run during spring break, Christmas/holiday break, and/or during Thanksgiving recess?

    No, we do not run the program during these holidays. Be aware that our monthly fee stays the same during months that have holidays. We do not prorate our monthly fees during these months.

    Does the program run during official no-school days?

    No, we do not run the program during no-school days. Be aware that our monthly fee stays the same during months that have official no-school days. We do not prorate our monthly fees during these months.

SCHEDULE

Drop-off begins at school dismissal, and the pick-up time is 5:30 pm.

Students who remain on the premises after 5:45 pm will be charged a late pick-up fee of $25 every 30 minutes or less.

*All students are members of Saint Margarets and will remain on campus for the duration of the afterschool program under the oversight of the Manhattan University staff. 

SNACKS

Parents must provide one nut-free snack in a sealed lunch box every day.

$100 non-refundable registration fee (this fee cannot be added to monthly or other payments). Must be paid when registration is submitted.

*Fees are not prorated per day or week, even if the child can only attend on certain days during the term. This includes school closures for holidays, no-school days, or quarantine.
