Temporary Accommodations

Manhattan University provides reasonable accommodations for students with temporary disabilities or medical conditions. The Specialized Resource Center (SRC) works with eligible students and faculty members to coordinate appropriate temporary accommodations.

Required Documentation

Students must provide documentation from a licensed healthcare provider. The documentation should include:

  • The nature of the injury or medical condition.
  • The anticipated recovery period.
  • Any temporary limitations that may affect the student’s academic participation.
  • Recommendations for appropriate accommodations, when applicable.

After the application and supporting documentation are received, an SRC staff member will contact the student to discuss possible accommodations.

The SRC may confirm the documented medical need and anticipated time frame and help coordinate reasonable accommodations among the student and their faculty members.

Important Information

  • The SRC does not provide transportation.
  • The SRC cannot approve remote learning as a temporary accommodation. Students should review the Manhattan University Attendance Policy for information about course attendance requirements.
  • Students remain responsible for completing required coursework during their recovery. Arrangements for assignments, deadlines and course participation must be coordinated directly with each faculty member.
  • Students should maintain regular communication with their faculty members regarding their recovery, progress and ability to complete course requirements.
  • Accommodations cannot be applied retroactively.

Leaves of Absence

The SRC does not manage or approve leaves of absence. Students considering a leave should review the University’s leave of absence procedures.
