What Set's Us Apart

The Manhattan University Difference

What Sets Us Apart

The Accounting major at Manhattan University prepares students to speak the language of business with authority and precision. Grounded in a rigorous, practice-focused curriculum, students gain deep competency in financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and business law, all reinforced by personalized instruction and close faculty mentorship in small classes. With an excellent job placement rate for accounting graduates, the program has a proven track record of launching careers at the Big Four, major financial institutions, and top public sector organizations.

CPA Exam Pathway

Manhattan University's structured curriculum is built to meet New York State's CPA licensure education requirements. Students can pursue the accelerated five-year B.S./MBA Professional Accounting Program to sit for the CPA exam during or immediately after the MBA, putting them on the fastest possible path to licensure.

Real-World Practice Through VITA

Through the IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, accounting students provide free tax preparation services to low-income Bronx residents each tax season. This nationally recognized, hands-on experience builds professional skills, community impact, and a record of service that stands out to employers.

Beta Alpha Psi Honor Society

Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting and finance honor society, gives students access to live presentations, networking events, career panels, and leadership opportunities both on campus and at regional competitions.

Five-Year B.S./MBA Professional Accounting Program

Motivated undergraduates can earn both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA in Professional Accounting in five years, totaling 153 credits. This AACSB-accredited accelerated program is registered with the State of New York as a Professional Accounting Program and is one of the most direct routes to CPA eligibility available at any university in the region.

NYC Location and Employer Access

Situated in New York City, the accounting capital of the United States, Manhattan University students have direct access to the Big Four firms, top regional practices, major financial institutions, healthcare networks, media companies, and government agencies that recruit from the O’Malley School of Business year-round.

Passport Program and Alumni Network

The Passport Program exposes students to the full range of career paths within the accounting profession through structured employer engagement, beginning in freshman year. Combined with an active alumni network at firms across the tri-state region, students build the professional relationships that lead directly to internships and job offers before graduation.
