The ARCH Innovation Exchange

Preparing Students for the Real World — and What Comes Next

Manhattan University is proud to introduce the ARCH Innovation Exchange—a bold, interdisciplinary approach to education designed to equip students for meaningful careers across all sectors and professions. With technology advancing rapidly, the workplace is changing. The world is changing. Many of the jobs that will exist in five years don’t exist today. ARCH brings together the strengths of engineering, liberal arts, business, science, and education to ensure graduates are not only career-ready, but future-ready—prepared to lead, adapt, and innovate in a rapidly changing world.

ARCH stands for Analytics, Research, Creativity, and Humanity—four pillars that reflect Manhattan’s belief that technical skill, critical inquiry, imagination, and ethical responsibility must work together. At its core, ARCH connects rigorous academics with real-world application through project-based learning, entrepreneurship, and cross-sector collaboration.

ARCH embodies our vision: rigorous academics connected to real-world innovation. It gives students the tools—and the mindset—to lead change.

Frederick Bonato, Ph.D., President, Manhattan University

Educating the Whole Professional

ARCH’s mission is clear: to equip students with critical thinking, technical fluency, creative confidence, and ethical grounding—the skills needed to lead innovation responsibly.

Its vision is equally ambitious: to position Manhattan University as a leader in interdisciplinary education, where an engineering mindset,  business acumen, and liberal arts values work together in service of the common good.

By connecting knowledge across disciplines and applying it to real-world challenges, ARCH prepares students not just for their first job—but for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and impact.

ARCH connects classroom learning with the real world by:

  • Giving students hands-on experience solving real problems.
  • Launching new programs that blend technology, creativity, and ethics
  • Helping every student develop an innovation mindset: curiosity, design thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Building leadership skills that combine empathy, creativity, and business sense.
  • Supporting startups and social ventures born on campus.
  • Partnering with New York City companies and organizations to open doors for internships, research, and innovation.

ARCH is collaborative by design. Faculty and students will work across disciplines to tackle complex problems with creativity, data literacy, and social responsibility.

Bridget Chalk, Ph.D., Interim Provost

Expanding Opportunity Across Disciplines

  •  The James Patterson Honors Program – Prepares students from all majors for ethical successful lives through a focus on leadership, career development, excellent communication skills, and ethical reasoning,

  • Industry-aligned credentials through partnerships such as IBM SkillsBuild, offering pathways in AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and project management

  • The annual Innovation Challenge, a competition open to all students run by the Entrepreneurship Center

  • Collaborative projects that integrate technical skills with communication, ethics, creativity, and social awareness

  • In development: a state-of-the-art Innovation Engine, with maker spaces, an analytics and AI innovation lab, and an immersive experience and XR studio
