Erika J. Pichardo, Ph.D, has joined Manhattan College as Title IX officer, under the direction of the College Compliance and Ethics office.
Pichardo will ensure that the College follows regulations set forth by Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972, which is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs, activities and employment practices.
Pichardo joins the College after serving as the program director for prevention education at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. There, she worked on a Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women grant. She has also served as part of the Title IX compliance review with the 2020 Department of Education Title IX revisions and has completed training provided by the SUNY Student Conduct Institute on Title IX compliance. In her research, she has presented on topics such as bystander intervention training, LGBTQ+ communities, and grant compliance.
Pichardo earned her B.A. in sociology and english from the College of Mount Saint Vincent, an M.A. in criminology and justice from St. John’s University, and a Ph.D, in criminal justice with a specialization in law and public policy from Walden University.
