Manhattan College will welcome back alumni — both recent and distinguished — to celebrate the 143rd Reunion Weekend May 31-June 2.
To help turn these moments into new memories with fellow Jaspers and friends, a full schedule of festivities is planned, including a young alumni reception and special anniversary gatherings for the 25th and 50th reunion classes.
“Manhattan really is a special place for all of us and it's at an exciting point in its 160-year history,” Thomas McCarthy '06, director of alumni relations, says. “We hope that alumni take advantage of Reunion Weekend as an opportunity to revisit campus, reconnect with old friends and be reminded of all their special memories of alma mater.”
In particular, the class of ’63 has much to celebrate. The guest list includes many of Manhattan’s dedicated alumni, whose continued leadership and generosity continues to help shape the College and the Greater New York City area.
From public servants to city execs, several members of the class have become household names, such as the founding principal and current consultant for Thornton-Tomasetti, Richard Tomasetti, and commissioner of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Raymond Kelly, also the namesake of the new student commons — just to name a few.
Since they turned their tassels, many familiar faces of the class have maintained a special commitment to supporting the College’s mission by serving on the board of trustees, including Gerard Caccappolo, Eugene R. McGrath, Michael Passarella, Michael Regan, as well as Thomas O'Malley, who recently gifted the largest donation in the College’s history.
“The ’63 alumni are really looking forward to this event,” Caccappolo says. “Making it to 70-plus-years-old is worth a celebration in itself. But more importantly, the things you cherish and remember in life are those special events, those celebrations, which marked something wonderful in your life. Graduation on June 11, 1963, was one of those events, and the returning alumni want to commemorate it 50 years later.”
