Through Pi Mu Epsilon and Sigma Pi Sigma, the department recognizes students whose work in mathematics and physics sets them apart. These societies connect members to a national community of scholars and open doors to research, fellowship, and professional growth.
Epsilon Sigma Pi
University-wide honor society exclusive to Manhattan University.
Membership in this Society is the highest scholastic honor for which undergraduates of all programs of the University are eligible. Induction requires a cumulative scholarship index of not less than 3.50, and the society is open to the highest-achieving students across every school at Manhattan University.
Phi Beta Kappa
The nation's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society.
Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa celebrates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Fewer than 300 colleges and universities in the world have earned the right to host a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, making membership one of the most distinguished academic honors available to undergraduates.
Pi Mu Epsilon
The national honor society for mathematics.
Pi Mu Epsilon is dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and the recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding. The society honors scholarly activity in the mathematical sciences and encourages students in their continued study of the discipline.
Sigma Pi Sigma
The national honor society for physics.
Founded in 1921 and affiliated with the Society of Physics Students, Sigma Pi Sigma promotes an attitude of service among its members and provides fellowship among physics students, faculty, and professionals. The society hosts PhysCon, a gathering where students hear from distinguished scientists, debate concerns facing the discipline, and tour iconic scientific venues.

Sigma Xi is an international, multidisciplinary community of science and engineering professionals dedicated to research excellence, to promoting public engagement with science, and to fostering the next generation of researchers.
