The Department of Kinesiology has an Exercise Physiology lab, a large open studio space, and a smaller strength and conditioning room with ample equipment for students to conduct research and apply what is being learned in the classroom. The Kinesiology Department is also located in close proximity to Draddy Gymnasium and the college’s Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning facilities providing easy access to several key collaborative partnerships including supervised internships/employment with our Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance and our Head Strength & Conditioning Coach (both alumni of the Department of Kinesiology). Students studying in the Department of Kinesiology are also allocated via Student Life distinct employment and internship opportunities in the Kelly Commons Fitness Center facilities.
The Exercise Physiology laboratory and faculty provides students with ‘hands-on’ opportunities to learn and put into practice sports science testing protocols with the use of the following equipment:
- CardioCoach Metabolic Assessment System
- SciFit Isokinetic Cycle Ergometers
- Spirit Treadmills
- Kistler Force Platform
- Cardio Touch Electrocardiographs
- Speedtrap Infrared Timing System
- FMS Y Balance Testing System
