RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Manhattan University is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Cercone, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, as Assistant Dean of the School of Engineering. The appointment reflects her long-standing dedication to student development and curricular growth at Manhattan University.
"I'm excited to welcome Dr. Cercone onto the Dean's Office team," said Kathryn Jablokow, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Engineering. "She brings a unique blend of experience in student advising, educational initiatives, and curricular research that will serve the School of Engineering well as we explore new innovations in programming."
An alumna, Dr. Cercone earned her B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Manhattan University and her Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Lehigh University. She has more than a decade of experience in engineering education, having served as assistant chairperson, academic advisor, and outreach coordinator for the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department, where she designed curricula, mentored more than 1,000 students, and built industry partnerships. She is also Assistant Director of the 40-year-old Summer Engineering Awareness Program, co-founded the Society of Women Engineers Alumni Group at Manhattan University, and serves as Principal Investigator on a National Science Foundation-funded grant modernizing civil engineering curricula nationwide.
As Assistant Dean, she will collaborate with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and corporate partners to advance academic excellence and educational innovation within the School of Engineering.
