Manhattan University Names Dr. Stephen Pugliese Interim Vice President For Enrollment

Manhattan University today announced that Stephen Pugliese, Ph.D., has been appointed the Interim Vice President for Enrollment. He previously served as the Chief of Staff upon his arrival at the University in July of this year.

photo of Stephen PugliesePugliese brings a broad and deep background in higher education. From 2017 to 2023, he worked for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education culminating with his position as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff. He had responsibilities across all units to ensure consistent operational coordination and efficiencies of accreditation activities, effective organizational management, and practices that promoted a positive culture and the attainment of mission-critical goals. His prior experience included serving as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mount Aloysius College, and Vice President for Student Development and Engagement and Enrollment Management at Immaculata University. Further, he served as Vice Provost for Student Life at St. Bonaventure University and Dean of Students at Marywood University.

Said Pugliese, “I have been so impressed with the quality of education at Manhattan University since my arrival last July. I am very eager to assume this new position and will be focusing on effective recruitment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, strategically utilizing financial aid to assist our students in the best possible manners, and continuing the University’s focus on expanding our international student base.”

Added Frederick Bonato, Ph.D., Interim President, “Steve’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to focus on strengthening our enrollment strategies. His knowledge and experience make him particularly well positioned to guide our efforts in attracting and retaining students.”

Pugliese received a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Development, Higher Education Administration from Marywood University, Scranton, PA; a Master of Science in Human Organization Science, Human Resource Development from Villanova University, Villanova, PA; and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theater Communication from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA.
