Grishma Shah, Ph.D, Director of Global Business Studies and Professor of Management and Marketing at Manhattan University, released her new novel, Anagram Destiny.
Published by SparkPress (Simon and Schuster), Anagram Destiny explores the intertwining nature of Dr. Shah’s prior work and academic experience. Her research at the O' Malley School of Business at Manhattan University has focused primarily on economic globalization, international business, cultural change, emerging economies, gender equity, and cross-cultural management.
The novel focuses on characters as they confront their pasts and must find a way to both the Indian and the American Dream under the shadow of terrorism. An important theme in the book is globalization and how rapidly the world and peoples’ experiences in it, whether positive or negative, are changing. “As someone who travels globally for work, research, and service, the things I remember most are the human elements of those trips aimed at learning about and conquering big, complicated problems. In many ways, the book aims to humanize and simplify the growing complexity in our world,” said Dr. Shah.
Shah continued, “I was inspired to write the story, not only as a daughter of Indian immigrants who spent part of her childhood growing up in motels and convenience stores, but also as an expert on culture and globalization. I have learned that nothing educates, enlightens, informs, or propels us forward like a good story. My students rarely remember the numbers, graphs, or data, but they do perk up and recall the colorful stories I tell them to bring the knowledge to life.
Previously, Dr. Shah’s studies and research have been published in top-tier academic journals, including the Harvard Business Review. Her case studies have covered Twitter (X), Stoli Vodka, Quattro Global Services, and others. She holds a Ph.D in Global Affairs, a Master of Public Affairs and Politics, and a B.A. in Political Science, all from Rutgers University.
