Manhattan College today announced that it entered into an articulation agreement with St. Francis College (SFC), Brooklyn, enabling SFC students studying chemistry to transfer to Manhattan College at the conclusion of their sophomore year. This Agreement is designed for those students interested in receiving a chemical engineering degree.
Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., President of Manhattan College said, “We are delighted to welcome St. Francis’ students interested in pursuing chemical engineering to join our highly regarded School of Engineering. With a particularly strong engineering alumni network throughout the New York metropolitan area and beyond, these incoming students will be well positioned for future job opportunities.” Anirban De, Ph.D., P.E., Interim Dean of the School of Engineering, added, “Building upon the broad background the students received in their first two years at St. Francis College will give them the tools needed to succeed in our rigorous chemical engineering program at Manhattan.”
Students from St. Francis College would be able to join three different concentrations in chemical engineering, which include biopharmaceutical engineering, consumer products and cosmetic engineering, and principles and processing of novel materials. In addition to the undergraduate offerings, students will have the opportunity to pursue a masters degree in chemical engineering. Students graduating from Manhattan College’s chemical engineering program have gone on to work at companies such as Unilever, Estee Lauder, Merck, and PepsiCo.
Tim Cecere, Ph.D, President of St. Francis College, stated that this relationship with Manhattan College, particularly the path it offers towards a crucial career-focused chemical engineering degree, will be a game changer for SFC. “Our entire community is grateful and pleased to partner with Manhattan College and its esteemed engineering program,” said Dr. Cecere.
