A longtime member of the Manhattan University community is assuming a new and vital role. Brother Augustine Nicoletti, FSC, has been named Vice President of Mission; he also will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet. As Vice President of Mission, he will develop and implement community-wide programs and events for faculty, administrators, staff, and students that support the Lasallian Catholic mission as well as overseeing two of the University’s most visible centers – The Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Center and the Dorothy Day Center.
“I am excited to begin this new chapter with Manhattan University,” said Brother Augustine. “This is an opportunity to inspire our community and revitalize and foster connections that align with our School’s mission. Manhattan is such a special place, and I am anxious to undertake this meaningful work.”
As Vice President, he also will assist in the orientation of all members of the School community in the Lasallian values, conduct audits on the values as they directly impact the campus’ sense of community, supervise the Office of Campus Ministry and Social Action, and provide leadership for a Mission Advisory and Integration Council with representatives across various institutions.

Brother Augustine was the first Brother President of the Ethiopian Catholic University of LaSalle in Addis Ababa, serving from 2017 to 2020. Previously, he was a member of the Manhattan faculty beginning in 2004, and served as Chair of the Education Department. He is a lifelong educator, taking on the role of Associate Dean as well as Dean of Students at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota; Principal at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, NY; and Associate Principal for Student Affairs and Director of Guidance at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ.
Brother Augustine has ad Ed.D. from St. Mary’s University (MN), a D.Min. from San Francisco Theological Seminary, a master’s degree from Duquesne University, an M.S. in counseling from West Chester University (PA), a B.A. in International Relations from Syracuse University, and a New York Certification for School Administration from Manhattan University.
