Manhattan College is excited to announce the expansion of the varsity athletics program. Next season the College will debut three varsity sports—women's golf, acrobatics and tumbling, and men's volleyball for the 2025-26 season. This brings the total number of teams to 21 for our Division I College.
Also, the Men’s Volleyball team is being supported by First Point Volleyball Foundation with a $100,000 grant. It’s part of a commitment to grow the sport in high school and college. That team will be starting as an associate member of the esteemed Northeast Conference (NEC) which added Men’s Volleyball to its list of competitive sports during the 2022-23 season.
Men’s Volleyball is already one of the fastest-growing sports in college athletics. According to USA Volleyball, membership among junior men grew 9.2 percent in 2023.
Irma Garcia, Director of Athletics, Manhattan College said, “We are excited to grow our sports program and expand this tradition of excellence in the MAAC. These three new teams will offer more opportunities for student athletes to compete and excel here.”
As the teams begin to take shape, the same Jasper dedication and team-building mindset that has helped develop the College’s well-regarded sports program will continue to build on its long and storied history.
"Manhattan College is proud to have competitive Division I sports teams,” Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E. President Manhattan College said. “We also provide our student-athletes with a great academic education that prepares them to become successful in their careers and personal lives. Adding three sports teams: women's golf, acrobatics and tumbling, and men's volleyball, will not only expand our tremendous sports program; it will also provide three new opportunities to shape well-rounded Manhattan College graduates."
