Manhattan College Names New Director of Residence Life Eric Rivera

Manhattan College welcomes Eric Rivera as the new Director of Residence Life, bringing a wealth of experience from his tenure at Sarah Lawrence College and Boston College. With a focus on student development and community building, Mr. Rivera is poised to enhance the residential experience for all students, fostering a vibrant living and learning environment.

Mr. Rivera brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position having served as Associate Director of Housing Operations at Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, NY where he was responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of a comprehensive residential experience for the college. Prior to his tenure at Sarah Lawrence, he served as a Resident Director at Boston College where he managed a residential community of 725 students.

Mr. Rivera’s strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills make him an effective leader in collaborating with key campus partners to enhance the overall student experience in residence halls He has expertise in improving occupancy management to ensure housing goals are met, enhancing residential life communication, building community, and renewing educational programming in the residence halls. He organized the RA Leading for Change Conference which served as the training for approximately 170 RAs and focused on the themes of leadership development, diversity, and skill-building.

Said Mr. Rivera, “I am particularly thrilled to be joining Manhattan College, a liberal arts Catholic Lasallain school, since my upbringing and education focused on the same traditions upon which Manhattan College was founded. I am looking forward to creating a community where our students can make long-lasting friendships and unforgettable memories as they grow and thrive towards excellence in a safe and vibrant living and learning environment.”

His enthusiasm and proven focus on students’ development – both socially and academically – will be great assets to all our resident students.”

Mr. Rivera is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Change from Empire State University of the State University of New York, and holds a Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Spanish and Public Administration from Providence College.
