Sigma Delta Pi honors excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking people. It also recognizes those who aspire to make Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known to English-speaking people. The society seeks to:
- encourage students to acquire a greater interest in and deeper understanding of Hispanic culture
- foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech
The Manhattan University chapter, Theta Mu, was established in 1956.
Eligibility
Students with an overall 3.0 GPA who have taken at least three Spanish courses at or above the 300-level and have maintained a 3.5 average in those courses are invited to join.
