Kevin Coogan has been teaching on the secondary and college levels since 1972 and has been involved in LaSallean education for more than thirty years. Besides teaching in the English Department at Manhattan College since 1996, he has taught at Saint Raymond High School for Boys from 1975 until 1989 and at at St. John's University, the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and in the Continuing Education program at New York University.
His major areas of research have centered on various modes of Irish identity reflected in modern and contemporary fiction. He has written on James Joyce, Desmond Hogan, Colm Toibin, and Jamie O'Neill, among others.
