Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about Financial Aid and awards.

When will I receive my Financial Aid packet?

  • Admitted students can expect to receive a financial aid offer by the third week of February.

Are there payment plans available?

  • Yes! Visit the Student Accounts and Bursar Services "Payment Options" page.

What if I need more financial aid?

How are student workers paid?

  • A common misconception about Federal Work Student or Campus Employment funding is that these funds decrease tuition or come off the direct tuition bill. In fact, each student worker is paid twice a month through a direct deposit to their personal bank account or they can choose to pick up a paper check from the Manhattan University Controllers office, located on the bottom floor of Miguel Hall. This money can be used for indirect university expenses like books, supplies, or social activities.

What jobs are offered to student workers?

  • Work study jobs include campus tour guides, financial aid receptionists, athletics stat keepers, academic tutors, career services assistants, library aids, and much more. Working on campus is an excellent way to make new friends, network with professionals, and gain valuable career experience.

Do I need to file for FAFSA every year?

  • Yes, new and returning students are required to file the FAFSA each year they are enrolled as a Manhattan University student.

Do I need to file for FAFSA to qualify for merit scholarships?

  • No, merit-based scholarships are determined by each student's high school GPA and standardized test scores (NOTE: We are a test-optional institution).

Can I apply for more scholarships as a returning student?

What are indirect costs?

  • Books, supplies, travel miles, tolls, gas, etc. These are every day expenses that will not appear on your direct Manhattan University bill.
