This faculty-led program examines the lives of holy women and men, the development of sainthood, and the broader intellectual traditions shaped by Parisian institutions and thinkers. Through on-site engagement with churches, historic neighborhoods, and academic spaces, students experience how religious ideas and ethical perspectives have evolved within one of Europe’s most significant cultural centers.

- RELS 200/300: Paris, Religion, and the Intellectual Life (3 Credits)
his course examines the influence of major intellectual figures associated with the University of Paris and the École Normale Supérieure on the development of Western theology, spirituality, and philosophy. Students will also explore the work of notable artists whose creations engage spiritual and ethical themes, observing how ideas move across disciplines and historical periods.
Throughout the program, students visit these academic institutions and explore the neighborhoods, classrooms, and cultural environments in which these thinkers lived and worked. By situating these figures within their historical and geographic context, students gain a deeper understanding of how place, history, and community shaped their contributions to the Western intellectual tradition.
