Foundations of Digital Drawing Program
This course seeks a coherent balance between the soulful act of drawing and the chaotic multifaceted world of digital media. The nature of drawing seems at first to be opposed to the slick and quick properties of digital media. Through the merger and development of traditional exercises and multimedia exploration, we will discover the common ground. The inclusion of the Wacom Tablet, a device that simulates a sketchbook with the software packages of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Painter, enables activities like still life, self-portraiture and landscape.
Objectives
- Students will become comfortable using the Wacom tablet and incorporating it in their drawing and design workflow.
- Students will become proficient at merging the tools and capabilities of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Painter into their fine art and design needs.
- Working in groups, students will develop an original illustration/design that tells a narrative.
- Students will develop a final series of three digital art/designs pieces that work together as a series.
