What guidelines for COVID-19 are you following in your program?
Manhattan University understands and will implement the New York State Child Care Programs issued guidelines.
What does a typical day look like?
From Monday -Thursday, students start the program with snack time and receive homework help and support afterward. On Fridays, students start the program with snack time and engage in interactive STEM-based activities afterward.
Can I prorate the service fee into only the days or weeks my child needs to go to after school?
We do not prorate the monthly service fee into the days or weeks that accommodate your case or when school is not open.
If I take my child off the program for one term, can my child usually return to the program?
Suppose you decide not to have your child continue in our program for one specific term. Your child may lose their place in our program.
Does the program run during school for a half day?
No, there is no after-school program when the school only opens for a half day.
How does this program differ from other after-school programs?
What makes us different from other after-school programs is that our staff is made up of young adults who are currently enrolled in university. Our staff works directly with our students to enhance their education. Most of our staff are pursuing careers in education with the goal to teach young children. Additionally, another portion of our staff is also made up of educators that have managerial and teaching experience in school settings
Where is our after-school program located?
At Amber Charter School: Kingsbridge at 3120 Corlear Ave, the Bronx, NY 10463 and Inwood at 532 W 215th St, New York, NY 10034.
What is the student-teacher ratio?
Our student/teacher ratio is 10:1, which allows for a more personalized learning approach.
Does this program offer field trips?
No. All activities and classes are held on Amber Charter School: Kingsbridge/Inwood grounds only.
What are the rules of this program?
We follow the same rules and discipline procedures as during the school day. A list of the school policies can be found under the parent handbook, which can be found here.
How will my student get home after attending the Manhattan University after-school program?
We do not provide any transportation for students to go home. Parents must pick their children up at 5:30 pm. Staff members are unable to transport students.
How are activity teachers and staff members selected?
All Manhattan University senior staff and human resources administrators identify, meet, and screen all activity teachers who participate in the after-school program. Amber Charter School senior staff are also invited to participate in some of these interviews. All staff members also complete an extensive background check and are at least 18 years of age.
Does my child need to stay for the whole time?
Pick-up and drop-off times are completely flexible. Parents can drop off their children later or pick them up earlier. If a child seems exhausted, the child's guardians will be contacted to pick them up. To coordinate early or late pick-up/drop-off, contact the program coordinator in advance.

Does this after-school program run during spring break, Christmas/holiday break, and/or during Thanksgiving recess?
No, we do not run the program during these holidays. Be aware that our monthly fee stays the same during months that have holidays. We do not prorate our monthly fees during these months.
Does the program run during official no-school days?
