After School Program (K-7)
The Manhattan University after-school program provides children in grades K-7 with daily homework support and once-a-week enrichment in science, math, engineering, technology, and the arts. Homework help includes review for upcoming exams, led by university students and experienced educators.
The program is offered at Amber Charter School Kingsbridge, 3120 Corlear Ave, Bronx, NY 10463. It runs from September 8, 2025 through June 19, 2026. On snow days, the program is closed unless otherwise notified, and it follows Amber Charter School Kingsbridge/Inwood closures for school holidays and breaks.
Registration is open. Please note: the Manhattan University after-school program currently serves only students attending Amber Charter School Kingsbridge.

What COVID-19 guidelines do you follow?
Manhattan University understands and implements the guidelines issued by New York State Child Care Programs.
What does a typical day look like?
Monday through Thursday, students begin with snack time and then receive homework help and support. On Fridays, students begin with snack time and then engage in interactive STEM-based activities.
Can I prorate the service fee for only the days or weeks my child attends?
No. The monthly service fee is not prorated for specific days, weeks, or days when school is closed.
If I take my child off the program for one term, can my child return later?
If you choose not to continue for a specific term, your child may lose their place in the program.
Does the program run on half days?
No. There is no after-school program when the school is open only for a half day.
How does this program differ from other after-school programs?
Our staff is made up of young adults currently enrolled in university who work directly with students to enhance their education. Most are pursuing careers in education, and others are educators with managerial and teaching experience in school settings.

What is the student-teacher ratio?
The ratio is 10:1, allowing for a more personalized approach.
Does the program offer field trips?
No. All activities and classes are held on Amber Charter School Kingsbridge/Inwood grounds only.
What are the rules of the program?
We follow the same rules and discipline procedures used during the school day.
How will my child get home after the program?
We do not provide transportation. Parents must pick up their children at 5:30 p.m. Staff members are not permitted to transport students.
How are activity teachers and staff selected?
Manhattan University senior staff and human resources administrators identify, meet, and screen all activity teachers, and Amber Charter School senior staff are invited to participate in some interviews. All staff members complete an extensive background check and are at least 18 years of age.
Does my child need to stay for the whole time?
Pick-up and drop-off times are flexible. Parents may drop children off later or pick them up earlier. If a child seems exhausted, guardians will be contacted for pick-up. To arrange early or late pick-up or drop-off, contact the program coordinator in advance.

Does the program run during spring break, holiday break, or Thanksgiving recess?
No. The monthly fee stays the same during months that include holidays and is not prorated.

Schedule
In-person drop-off begins at school dismissal, and pick-up is at 5:30 p.m. Students remaining on the premises after 5:45 p.m. will be charged a late pick-up fee of $25 per 30 minutes or less. Manhattan University staff pick up children staying at Amber Charter School Kingsbridge, and children never leave the school buildings.
Snacks
Parents must provide one nut-free snack in a sealed lunch box each day.
Tuition and Fees
- $100 non-refundable registration fee, due when registration is submitted. This fee cannot be applied toward monthly or other payments.
- $180 per month for Amber Kingsbridge. Fees are not prorated by day or week, even if a child attends only certain days, and this includes school closures for holidays, no-school days, or quarantine.
- Late payment: a $25 late fee is added to the term's tuition if payment is not made on time.
- Refunds: a $15 processing fee applies to any refund.
