Program Information

Overview

Our AP Summer Institute offers top-tier training in the instruction of Advanced Placement classes. This summer marks our 46th year of providing instruction in AP subjects, and we are proud to welcome back our talented consultants, all experts in their fields, year after year.

While professional development is not required to prepare for 2026–2027 AP course updates and new classroom resources, the College Board encourages AP teachers to take advantage of the professional development offered by APSIs. Based on survey data, teachers across the country have found AP professional development extremely valuable.

We are hosting one in-person cohort and three online cohorts in 2027.

Payment Responsibilities and Agreement Notice

Non-Payment Penalties

Pay your tuition and fees or withdraw from any classes you decide not to take by the published deadline (see above for details) to avoid late fees and/or collection agency referral. A late penalty of 1% of the outstanding balance of any student account will be assessed monthly until the account is paid in full. Accounts not paid in full may be referred to a collection agency, which can result in fees, which may be based on a percentage at a maximum of 33.33% percent of the delinquent account balance, together with all charges and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, necessary for the collection of the delinquent account balance. Please note that students are responsible for payment of their full tuition and fees until it is received by Manhattan University, even if their school districts have agreed to fund their tuition.

Overdue tuition and fees may automatically terminate current enrollment and indefinitely suspend future enrollment. The University reserves the right to request prepayment before allowing registration for future terms. In addition, students with an outstanding obligation to the University will also be barred from online account access, receiving grade reports, and parking decals until all account balances have been paid.

Payment Responsibilities and Agreement Notice

Upon enrollment, students agree to be in accordance with all policies and procedures related to their financial obligation to Manhattan University.

By proceeding with online registration, the student accepts full responsibility to pay all tuition, fees and other associated charges assessed as a result of their registration and/or receipt of services. The student further understands and agrees that their registration and acceptance of these terms constitutes a promissory note agreement (i.e., a financial obligation in the form of an educational loan as defined by the U.S. Bankruptcy Code at 11 U.S.C. §523(a)(8)) in which Manhattan University is providing me educational services and the student promises to pay for all assessed tuition, fees and other associated charges by the published or assigned due date. If there is a dispute or problem with this agreement then the University will follow the law of the state of New York. Specifically, students agree to pay all tuition and fees in accordance with the cancellation policy described below.

The student assumes liability for any debt incurred during their attendance at Manhattan University as outlined below, regardless of the payment source. The terms of payment, withdrawal, and adjustment are set forth on the Advanced Placement Institute website and are incorporated upon enrollment at Manhattan University.

Manhattan University uses e-mail as an official method of communication with students. Therefore, students are responsible for reading the e-mails they receive from Manhattan University on a timely basis.

Students are required to notify in writing to the University promptly of any change in address, phone number, other contact information, or course cancellation by emailing such changes to apinstitute@manhattan.edu (to cancel a course, submit the course cancellation form, which can be downloaded). Failure to comply with the policies on address and telephone changes that result in the loss or delay of contact is the student's sole responsibility.

By providing their mobile number to the university, students consent to be called on a wireless number via auto-dialer or prerecorded message and I knowingly release the wireless number to the calling entity and receive text messages for the wireless number provided and any future numbers. I understand and agree that should I leave Manhattan University under any circumstance with a balance due, I hereby authorize Manhattan University and/or its agents, including attorneys and/or collection agencies, to contact me via cellular telephone and/or all forms of electronic technology (to include text messaging and e-mail) using my current phone number or any future number to collect such outstanding debt, unless I notify such party in writing to cease such communication.

Payment to the University is always the student's responsibility regardless of the funding source for tuition.

Inquiries regarding accounts receivable and/or cashiering can be directed to Jasper Central by phone at (718) 862-7100 or by email at JasperCentral@manhattan.edu.

Acceptable forms of payment are cash, personal check, bank check, money order, credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express), and bank wire via Western Union. Checks must be payable to Manhattan University, with the student’s Manhattan University Campus-Wide ID or Invoice Number.

Payments can be made in person at the Jasper Central Office in Thomas Hall, mailed or submitted on our secure online Student Account Suite by using a credit card or eCheck (ACH withdrawals) with the student’s identification number included. The University reserves the right to dictate eligible forms of future payments in cases where insufficient funds are presented and/or in cases of continued delinquent account status.

The University further reserves the right to request prepayment in certified funds before allowing registration for future terms. Students can avoid late fees by paying their tuition and fees by the published deadline. A late penalty of 1% of the outstanding balance of any student account will be assessed monthly until the account is paid in full.

Grants to Feeder Schools

Manhattan University awards a $300 remission grant to any current or prospective teacher taking the course for graduate credit from a secondary school that has sent ten or more students to Manhattan University in the preceding 10-year period. View a list of these schools.

Credit vs. Audit

Participants must decide whether to take the course for graduate credit or audit at the time of registration. If your employer is paying for the course, please confirm which option they will cover before making your decision.

At Manhattan University, participants may take AP Summer Institute courses for graduate credit at an additional cost.

Participants who choose the graduate credit option will receive three (3) graduate credits in education and a certificate documenting 45 hours of professional development upon successful completion of the course. To request an official transcript, follow the instructions on the Transcripts page.

During the week of the Institute, consultants will assign additional projects to participants taking the course for graduate credit. These projects may be completed during or after the course. Consultants will assign letter grades to participants enrolled for graduate credit.

Participants who choose to take the course without receiving graduate credit are enrolled as audit participants. Upon completion of the course, they will receive a certificate documenting 37.5 hours of professional development. Audit participants are not required to complete additional projects and will not receive a letter grade.

Participants who wish to switch from one session to another or change their enrollment from audit to graduate credit (or vice versa) must request the change by the registration deadline for their cohort. Requests should be emailed to apinstitute@manhattan.edu.
