Student Competitions

At Manhattan University’s O’Malley School of Business, learning extends beyond the classroom through a dynamic portfolio of student competitions that challenge you to apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios. These experiences are designed to sharpen your analytical thinking, strengthen your communication skills, and build the confidence needed to perform at a high level—whether you’re presenting to industry professionals or collaborating with peers on complex business problems.

From data-driven decision-making in the Business Analytics Challenge to economic forecasting in the Fed Challenge, students engage with timely, relevant issues that mirror today’s business landscape. Entrepreneurially minded students can bring ideas to life through initiatives like Entrepreneurs at Manhattan University (E@MU) and the Innovation Challenge, where creativity, strategy, and execution come together in competitive environments.

These competitions not only enhance your academic experience but also connect you with faculty mentors, industry judges, and like-minded peers. Along the way, you’ll gain practical experience, expand your professional network, and develop a portfolio of work that sets you apart in internships, graduate study, and the job market.

Whether you’re interested in finance, analytics, entrepreneurship, or strategy, OMSB competitions provide a platform to explore your interests, test your abilities, and showcase your potential on campus and beyond.

Business Analytics Competition (BAC)

The Business Analytics Competition is an annual campus-hosted event that provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students studying business analytics (or related fields) to test their knowledge and hone their skills. Competing students not only engage in the “art and science” of decision-making but also practice their ability to draw business insight from a comprehensive analysis of relevant data.

Entrepreneurs at MU (E@MU)

Entrepreneurs at Manhattan University (E@MU) provides students a head start in turning their ideas into tangible businesses. E@MU integrates academics with experiential learning to foster innovation and student entrepreneurship.

Fed Challenge

The College Fed Challenge is a national academic competition hosted annually by the Federal Reserve Bank. Students across the country analyze the current state of the U.S. economy and make a recommendation for future monetary policy actions to a panel of judges who work at the Federal Reserve Bank.

Innovation Challenge

This University-wide competition inspires students to creatively develop an idea for an exciting and practical product or service. The competition is open to students of all academic disciplines, who are encouraged to team up with each other if it might help their innovation.
