For the fifth straight year, Manhattan College has earned a spot on VIQTORY’s list of Military Friendly Schools.
In the 2019-20 edition, Manhattan is listed in the silver category, which includes the top 20 percent of the 766 colleges and universities on the list. Manhattan College is the only private college in New York City to be placed in the silver category.
Manhattan College has a longstanding commitment to helping educate veterans and ensuring their professional success after graduation. As a partner in the Post-9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon program, Manhattan has assisted veterans in their transition from military to academic and civilian life and eventual professional careers.
The College’s Veterans at Ease program, which was recently highlighted by Religion News Service, offers veteran sections for "The Nature and Experience of Religion," a first-year course that teaches stress reduction and relaxation techniques and provides opportunities for bonding. The College's Veterans Success Center also offers veterans a space to learn about resources, study and socialize.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school.
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
