Global Jaspers Learning Community

First-Year students in the Global Jaspers program live and learn together, broaden their horizons, and gain skills to tackle the issues of tomorrow.

The office of Residence Life and the office of Global Engagement have partnered to create a residential community for students who wish to globalize their Manhattan University experience. Students who join Global Jaspers will live in community with international students from around the world, thus enriching their experience of living and learning in New York City.

To apply for the the Global Jaspers Community, please complete the housing application on the myMU Portal.

Live

As a Global Jaspers student, you have the chance to get settled on campus by moving in before the rest of the student body. You will live on the eighth floor of Lee Hall, one of our all suite-style buildings. Residents live on co-ed floors in gender-specific suites. Each suite typically consists of two double-occupancy rooms, and a private bathroom that you share with your roommates. Living in the heart of campus ensures that you'll be part of a safe and fun community, and makes those early morning classes a little bit easier to get to!

Learn

During the year, you will:

  • Become engaged with others from global communities in order to develop a deeper understanding of the world's interconnectedness
  • Develop an appreciation for how various cultural elements shape your goals and ambitions
  • Build skills to help address interpersonal issues that arise from differences in lived experiences
  • Develop a deeper connection to the global Manhattan University community through various activities and sponsored programs

Living on a diverse community floor allows individuals to immerse themselves in a cultural environment they might not be familiar with. By choosing this, students gain the opportunities to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for diversity and share their social skills with individuals who may have different values or experiences.

Video: Student Project

Learning Community students love sharing their experiences with others. Arches students Sarah Obeidalla and Caitlin Hall produced this video after visiting a mosque as part of their Arches class, The Nature and Experience of Religion.
