***Alert: Be Aware of Job Posting Scams
Although rare, there are “phishing” scams that post fake job listings in an attempt to trick people into providing personal information (ex. driver’s license, social security, credit card, banking card number) or into depositing a check or wiring money. These scams tend to use very well-known company names, but alter them slightly to confuse people.
Here are some phishing scams companies you need to watch out for:
o ABCO Roofing
o ADPT Corporation
o Centopsheer Arts Company
o Fraudulent email and recruiter - email@example.com/ Johnson Cox
o Costa Coffee
o Coway Manufacturing Solutions
o Deer Park Company
o Digital Extremes
o Ernest & Young (instead of Ernst & Young)
o Masco Corporation
o McKinsey (instead of McKinsey & Company)
o Metra Solutions
o PwC Consulting Services
o Reality Based Group
o Tilojasoft Consulting Group (TCG)
o Zehm Concept
If you spot a position in JasperLink or are contacted by an employer that you believe to be a scam, please notify the Center Career Development immediately at 718-862-7244. Once we receive the notification from the students, CCD will contact Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to further investigate. We also recommend students to contact their bank and stop any suspicious bank activities or transactions.
