In order to preserve health and safety on the Manhattan campus, enhanced signage and educational materials will be posted throughout our buildings and facilities, including common areas and student rooms.
Students will be extensively educated by Residence Life staff about new practices to mitigate exposure in shared spaces such as bathrooms and common areas.
Dining venues in Thomas Hall, Kelly Commons, and a possible temporary South campus option, will feature prominent signage, one-way directional mapping and clear pick-up options via well-placed monitors to ensure social distancing and a smooth flow of foot traffic. Clearly marked spaces for seating will help to ensure respect and equal access for all patrons.
Cleaning and Disinfection
Per CDC guidelines, all shared areas on campus will be cleaned and disinfected every 24 hours, and more often for heavy-use areas. If a positive COVID-19 case is reported, any areas where the individual spent more than 15-30 minutes will be closed for 24 hours prior to disinfection, with open windows and doors to allow for air circulation.
Shared objects should be cleaned/disinfected in between each use. Disinfecting wipes will be available in all classrooms and shared spaces for individual use in wiping down computers, equipment, desks, chairs, tables, countertops and other shared objects/areas.
Facilities will be well-stocked with hand-washing and cleaning supplies, along with general disinfectants. Waste baskets will be placed in prominent locations and emptied frequently.
