Return to Campus Communications

The College will continue to share details and announcements with the campus community throughout the Fall semester. Here you will find the most recent campus communication.

  • Less Than a Week Away from Spring 2021 | January 21, 2021

    To the Manhattan College community,

We are less than a week away from the start of classes on Wednesday, January 27. With COVID-19 vaccines being distributed throughout the country, including to faculty at colleges and universities, some local and nationwide metrics are beginning to gradually decline.

With a continuation of the policies and procedures we adhered to in the fall, we’re hopeful that the spread of the virus is plateauing nationwide and will quickly decrease across the country and in our area.

At the same time, we must maintain a safe and healthy community. You must wear a mask at all times in public. You cannot participate in any large gatherings. You have to wash your hands regularly. You have to continue to make smart decisions that benefit the entire community.

For more details, please visit our Return to Campus site.

    Updated Test Results

We began receiving off-campus test results over the past week and restarted our campus-wide testing program on Tuesday.

In the last 14 days, 635 tests were completed on campus with 1 positive result and 141 results pending.

During that same time period, Health Services processed an additional 609 results from off-campus testing sites with 0 positive test results recorded for on-campus individuals.

During the past 14 days, the positive test average for the College is 0.09%%. As a point of comparison, the seven-day positive test average for New York City was 5.7% on Wednesday, January 20.

The College is publishing weekly updates of testing and quarantine data on this public dashboard.

Reminder: Anyone Coming to Campus Must Submit a Test Result

All students and employees who will be returning to campus this week must have submitted a test result to the results portal. Please make sure your full name, date of test and result are visible on the result that you upload.

Once the Office of Health Services processes your result, you will receive a green pass on your Glance MC app and daily symptom tracker. If you happen to test positive, please upload that result to the results portal. A Health Services representative will contact you with more details.

If you have tested positive in the last 90 days and have uploaded that result here, you do not need to submit a return to campus test. Those students who have tested positive in the last 90 days do not have to be re-tested but must still complete a four-day precautionary quarantine.

Group B Students (includes NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA, VT)

For students traveling from New York and its bordering states, a precautionary quarantine is mandated by the College. Students will need to follow the instructions below:

In this 7-day period prior to your arrival on campus, you must have completed a PCR test. When you receive your result, please submit it here before coming to campus.

If you uploaded a negative PCR test here, check-in on campus will include the following:

    • Go to the lobby of Smith Auditorium and get a move-in test

      • You will be required to show your approved pre-arrival test via the Glance MC app. To access the status of your pre-arrival test, navigate to the second link titled ‘COVID Compliance Status’. The most recent test result upload will be featured under ‘COVID Test’ outlining your test date and approval status.

      • Your pre-arrival test must have been taken within 7 days prior to your move-in date

        • Please review your ‘COVID Compliance Status’ prior to arrival on campus

        • If your test result was rejected, please email Health Services at health.services@manhattan.edu.

    • Check in with Residence Life staff located at the designed check-in location within your residence hall building

      • Residence Life staff will be reviewing your ‘COVID Compliance Status’ on the Glance MC app to verify your ‘Last Swipe In’ date, which indicates that you completed your move-in test at Smith Auditorium

    • Do a precautionary quarantine on campus until your move-in test results are received

    • While in precautionary quarantine, you can only go to and from Locke’s Loft to pick up meals

If you did not upload a negative PCR test here, you are not permitted to check-in. You need to return home, take a PCR test, upload the result here and then contact Residence Life to change your date for move-in.

Students: Check Your Spring 2021 Schedule

Students may still register for classes in Self-Service. You may also see which classes are in person versus remote. All classes that are remote will have an attribute or schedule type of remote learning.

For in-person classes, almost all classes have both a remote and an in-person section. Remote sections will have an R after the section number. For example, ACCT 201-02R. These also have an attribute or schedule type of remote learning.

    Dining Services Availability

Locke's Loft reopens for lunch starting at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 22. Student meal plans begin at that time.

Due to New York City restrictions on indoor dining, all venues are operating on a grab and go basis. We will share any updates if restrictions are lifted during the semester.

For more information, including hours of all Manhattan College Dining Services locations, please visit the CampusDish site.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

    Sincerely,

Steven Schreiner, Richard Satterlee and Tamara Britt
