## RA Application

**Applications to become an RA for the 2026- 2027 academic year are now closed! Check back in early Spring 2027 for the next round of RA selection.**

Are you ready to take your leadership skills to the next level? Join our team of Resident Assistants (RAs) and become an integral part of Manhattan Universityâ&#128;&#153;s vibrant residential community! As an RA, you'll live and work in our residence halls, guiding a specific wing or floor to create a warm, engaging, and supportive atmosphere for your fellow students.

Serving as an RA is a one-year commitment *(with the possibility of renewal)* and is open to full-time rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors - especially those with a passion for leadership. ### Application Process:

RA Applications for Fall 2026/Spring 2027 semester positions are **closed**.

Log onto your [MyMU portal](https://manhattan.starrezhousing.com/StarRezPortalX/) to view and complete the application.

- To be considered for the RA position, candidates must complete the **online application** and attend one mandatory **RA Interest Meeting** listed below. Attendance at an interest meeting is required to move forward in the selection process.
- Qualified candidates will be invited via email to **Group Process Day**, where theyâ&#128;&#153;ll participate in engaging activities designed to highlight leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Candidates who advance will then schedule an **interview** with a Residence Life professional staff member and a current RA.
- The final step is the **Candidate Social**, a relaxed opportunity to connect with other candidates and Residence Life staff before final decisions are made.

### General Resident Assistant Job Responsibilities

**Community Building and Engagement**

- Foster a sense of community and inclusion among residents by promoting respect, diversity, and collaboration.
- Plan and facilitate educational, social, and cultural programs that align with university goals and meet the needs of residents.
- Serve as a resource and mentor, encouraging residents to get involved in campus activities and organizations.

**Policy Enforcement and Conflict Resolution**

- Enforce university and residence hall policies to ensure a safe and respectful living environment.
- Address and mediate conflicts between residents in a fair and professional manner.
- Document incidents promptly and accurately, following the protocols established by the university.

**Support and Crisis Management**

- Act as the first point of contact for residents in need of assistance or experiencing personal challenges.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including health, safety, and facility-related issues, and escalate as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for residents.

**Administrative Responsibilities**

- Conduct room inspections and complete regular health and safety checks.
- Distribute important communications, such as flyers, emails, or bulletin board updates.
- Assist with the move-in and move-out process, including welcoming residents and conducting room condition reports.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.

**Team Collaboration**

- Work collaboratively with other RAs, professional housing staff, and campus departments to support residence hall operations.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new RAs when required.
- Provide feedback and share ideas for improving the residential experience.

**Role Modeling**

- Uphold and exemplify university values, policies, and behavioral expectations.
- Maintain professionalism in interactions with students, staff, and faculty.
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and effective communication skills.

**Additional Responsibilities**

- Take initiative in identifying and addressing resident concerns or issues.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by residence life staff to support the department's mission and goals.

### Minimum Job Requirements:

- Full-time Manhattan University students
- Minimum and cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a proven record of academic engagement.
- Candidates must be in good judicial standing
- Completed at least one full semester of residence in our campus housing.
