**RIVERDALE, N.Y. —** Manhattan University today announced a $3 million gift from the Brothers of the Christian Schools in support of initiatives that will enhance the student experience and strengthen the University’s distinctive Lasallian Catholic mission.

The investment will help Manhattan expand opportunities that support students inside and outside the classroom, including programs that foster academic success, personal growth, belonging, leadership and service. Specific allocations will be guided by the University’s strategic priorities and its commitment to ensuring that every student has the resources and experiences needed to thrive.

Founded in 1853, Manhattan University is the oldest institution of higher education established by the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the United States. “This extraordinary gift is a powerful vote of confidence in Manhattan University and in the promise of our students,” said Frederick Bonato, PhD, President of Manhattan University. “It will enable us to deepen the experiences that define a Manhattan education: rigorous learning, meaningful mentorship, a caring community and opportunities to put knowledge into service. We are profoundly grateful to the Brothers for their leadership and unwavering support of Lasallian education.”

For more than 170 years, Manhattan University and the Brothers of the Christian Schools have shared a commitment to educating students of diverse backgrounds and preparing graduates to lead with integrity, compassion and purpose.
