Long-Serving College Employees Honored at Staff Convocation

Staff and administrators received recognition for their dedication to Manhattan College.

Manhattan College staff and administrators gathered to celebrate fellow colleagues at the annual Staff Convocation held on Nov.18 in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers. After opening remarks from President Brennan O’Donnell, employees celebrating milestone anniversaries and retirements were recognized, and memorial candles were lit for deceased faculty and staff.Staff Convocation

Central to the event were the presentations of staff and administrators celebrating 25 years of service to the College: Joan Anne Butler, operator, Telecommunications; Robert Byrnes, director of Athletics; Grace Cabrera, office manager, School of Education and Health; Marilyn Carter, director of Higher Education Opportunity Program; Fernando Gomez, groundskeeper, Physical Plant; Barbara Fabé, vice president for Human Resources.

The event culminated with the naming of the Distinguished Lasallian Awards, which recognize administrator and staff members who best exemplify the Lasallian values of service, respect, community, education and faith. Eileen McIntyre, help desk manager for Information Technology Services, received the Distinguished Lasallian Administrator Award, and Angie Thrapsimis, office manager for Residence Life, was awarded with the Distinguished Lasallian Staff Award.
