Dean of Manhattan College’s School of Engineering Accepted as Fellow of Environmental and Water Resources Institute

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will recognize Tim Ward as a Fellow at the World Environmental & Water Resources Congress.

Tim J. Ward, Ph.D., P.E., dean of Manhattan College’s School of Engineering, will be recognized as a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) on May 19 at the 2013 World Environmental & Water Resources Congress.

As a founding member of EWRI, Ward has supported the Institute since it was created in 1999. EWRI is a civil engineering specialty institute of the ASCE that is committed to assisting in the sustainable use, conservation and protection of natural resources.

Ward along with 36 fellows will be honored during the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers’ (AAWRE) ninth annual Diplomate Induction Ceremony in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the first year EWRI will recognize fellows, which is a new level of achievement for members.

At the Congress, Ward will also be presented with the 2013 Arid Lands Hydraulic Engineering Award, in recognition of his initiative, leadership and numerous contributions to education, research and service.

Before coming to Manhattan College, Ward retired from the University of New Mexico (UNM) as professor emeritus of civil engineering. At UNM, he spent eight years as chair of the civil engineering department and three years as assistant vice president for research.

In addition, Ward serves as a fellow of the ASCE and is a licensed Professional Engineer in New Mexico. He is a member and three-time chair of the ASCE Watershed Management Technical Committee, an associate editor and member of the editorial board of the ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Chi Epsilon, Sigma Tau, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
