Community Involvement

The stadium will be available to community groups, youth teams, and local middle and high schools.

2006 Manhattan College baseball players running from dugout celebrating winning championship.Joe Coppo Field at Van Cortlandt Park will serve as new home field for Manhattan College Baseball but more important, this facility has been designed to serve as first-class baseball field for Bronx and Riverdale community groups, youth teams, middle and high school squads.

The community aspect of this new facility was paramount to the Coppo family who remembered Joe Coppo’s years of coaching and fostering growth of youth baseball.

We view Joe Coppo Field at Van Cortlandt Park as a place that will cross many generations and provide a valuable asset to the Bronx community. Not only will it become the new, almost-on-campus home to Manhattan College Baseball, but it will be a place that youth, families and the community can continue to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.
