Professor, Communication

Thom Gencarelli, Ph.D. is a Professor and the founding Chair of Manhattan College's "Next Generation" Communication program, which was established in August 2007.  He is a Past President of the Media Ecology Association, the New York State Communication Association, and the New Jersey Communication Association (twice), Treasurer and member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of General Semantics, and Editor of the Institute's official journal, ETC: A Review of General Semantics.  He is co-editor (with Brian A. Cogan) of the anthology Baby Boomers and Popular Culture: An Inquiry into America's Most Powerful Generation (Santa Barbara: ABC-CLIO/Praeger, 2014) and is currently under contract to write Searching for the Right Notes: Essays on Media, Music, and Meaning, due out from Peter Lang in 2024.
