Salwa Ammar

Salwa Ammar, Ph.D., joined Manhattan College as the dean of School of Business in July 2009. Since her appointment, Dr. Ammar has led many successful initiatives for the school, including strategic planning efforts for the school and establishing a five-year B.S./M.B.A. program.

Dr. Ammar is the author of numerous academic papers. Her primary work focuses on the application of fuzzy logic and expert systems to the evaluation of complex organizations. In addition, she has published extensively in the area of educational innovations in operations research and management science. As a business consultant, Dr. Ammar has worked with major corporations, Wall Street firms and government agencies using her methodologies to evaluate corporate performance, financial management and credit worthiness of public entities. Dr. Ammar has taught courses in management science and operations research since 1986 both at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Prior to her position at Manhattan College, Dr. Ammar served as the dean of management at LeMoyne College. She received her bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom. She earned a master’s degree in industrial engineering and a Ph.D. in decision and information services from the University of Florida.
