Mathew Swerdloff

Adjunct, NYC Bilingual Ed Grant

Mathew Swerdloff has served as an educator in New York State’s public schools for over twenty seven years. He has held positions as classroom teacher in grades 3 through 8, Director of Technology, Director of Library Media Services, Executive Director of Educational Support Services, and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the State University of New York in New Paltz. He has been responsible for human resources, staff training, managing technical support, technology infrastructure, the development of curriculum that incorporates the use of technology tools, information systems and data management, social media, and perhaps most importantly, teaching teachers and administrators.

Mathew has presented at numerous regional technology conferences and published twice in the online edition of T.H.E Journal. His work was included in the CD series’ “Teachers Tech Tutor: Technology in the Classroom” as well as “Using the Internet in the Classroom.” His case study on data solutions for K-12 schools was published in Ed-Tech magazine. Mathew has taught many courses to teachers, both at the graduate level and in school district in-service settings, and is also an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Buffalo and Manhattan College. He is a regular contributor to the online newsletter of the New York Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, as well as the Editor of "The Learning Edge", the newsletter of Learning Forward New York. Mathew is a Google Certified Trainer and leads workshops for teachers, school administrators, and nonprofits.

Mathew earned his Master’s Degree in Education and his New York School District Administrator Certification from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and his Doctorate from Western Connecticut State University, Danbury, CT.

In 2013, Mathew was awarded a Fulbright Specialist grant to travel to Santiniketan, India, and offer lectures and workshops to students and staff at Visva-Bharati University. In 2020 he was again awarded a Fulbright Specialist Grant and will be returning to India to work with staff and students in Kerala.

Mathew is the Co-Founder and President of the Maya Gold Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that serves youth in the Hudson Valley of New York and in Nepal.
