John Runowicz

John Michael Runowicz is an actor, musician and scholar whose credits include Theater for the New City productions of William Electric Black’s The Whites and Betty and the Belrays, and the La Mama production of Tennessee Williams' Not about Nightingales. He has released twelve albums of his music including the December 2019 album, Innocence. For many years he was the musical director, guitarist and second tenor for the legendary doo-wop group Speedo and the Cadillacs. In 2010, UMass Press published his book, Forever Doo-wop: Race, Nostalgia, and Vocal Harmony, based on his doctoral research. He also serves as Manager of Creative Arts at The Fortune Society, a non-profit that provides services for people involved with the criminal justice system.
