Jing Liu

Associate Professor, Physics

Jing Liu joined the Manhattan University in Fall 2017. She obtained a Ph. D. in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and carried out her postdoctoral research at Louisiana State University, Northeastern University, Yeshiva University and Stony Brook University. She became a guest researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory from 2012.

Dr. Liu teaches a variety of Physics courses at Manhattan University including lectures and lab at both introductory and advanced levels courses. In addition, she has interests in developing and updating course materials to keep the curriculum aligned with the recent development in science and modern technology.

Dr. Liu has research interests in Condense Matter Physics and Materials Science. Her expertise lies in the investigation of the structure-property relationship of novel functional materials, from bulk to nanoscale materials, by utilizing multiple advanced synchrotron-based techniques in materials characterization. She actively engages students from School of Arts and Science and School of Engineering in research.  Her faculty-student team’s summer research was sponsored by Department of Energy’s Visiting Faculty Program in 2019, 2020 and 2024.
