Christopher Ogburn

Christopher G. Ogburn is a doctoral candidate of Historical Musicology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His research concerns German opera, particularly the music of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss, German American studies, and American country music. His dissertation, entitled Strauss in the City: The Reception of Richard Strauss’s Salome, Elektra, and Der Rosenkavalier within New York City, 1907-1941, explores the reception of Strauss’s early operatic work in New York and the use of this music in German American identity formation.
