New York State residents may be eligible for the Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) program, which provides tuition assistance for full- and part-time study at Manhattan University for eligible veterans.

We invite you to join our monthly Military Monday Virtual Information Sessions, or schedule a personalized one-on-one virtual or in-person appointment with our veteran admissions team at your convenience. Our dedicated team builds one-to-one relationships with each applicant to ensure a smooth transition into the Manhattan University community.

## **How to Apply as a Veteran**

Manhattan University's admissions process for veterans operates on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline, and our team is dedicated to making your transition as smooth as possible.

### Determine Your Applicant Type

Your application track depends on your branch and prior college coursework.

 **Freshman** Army, Marines, Navy, or Coast Guard with no prior college coursework. Air Force without a CCAF/Air University or Joint Services Transcript. 

 **Transfer** Air Force with a CCAF/Air University or Joint Services Transcript. Army, Marines, Navy, or Coast Guard with any completed college coursework before, during, or after service. Eligible dependents with some prior college. 

 **Graduate** Completed an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution.

### Submit Your Application

Apply as soon as you begin your final semester at your previous institution or prior to leaving active duty. Admissions is rolling, with decisions typically issued within 2 to 3 weeks of receiving all required documents. Freshman applicants should aim to apply by March 1.

### Submit Required Documents

In addition to the standard application, military and veteran applicants must provide a **Joint Services Transcript (JST)** or CCAF/Air University transcript. Transcripts can be ordered online at [jst.doded.mil](http://www.jst.doded.mil) or through [getmytranscript.com](http://www.getmytranscript.com).

### Apply for VA Educational Benefits

Visit the VA website to apply for your educational benefits. Eligible veterans may also transfer Post-9/11 (Chapter 33) benefits to an eligible dependent. After VA approval, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) by mail. Notify our VA Certifying Official once your benefits are approved.

Mail or email your Certificate of Eligibility along with your completed VA form (22-1990 for new applicants, 22-1995 if transferring from another institution) to:

 [Veterans Success Center ](/offices/veterans/success-center)Opened Fall 2022, the state-of-the-art center features three distinct spaces: a quiet study area, a group meeting room, and a collaborative social space. Equipped with laptops, a textbook lending library, and veteran resource referral materials â&#128;&#148; conveniently co-located with Career Development, Academic Success, Financial Aid, and the Writing Center.

 [Veterans at Ease Program ](/offices/veterans/veterans-at-ease)Dedicated to supporting student veterans' transition to civilian and academic life. Includes a special adapted section of RELS 161 (The Nature and Experience of Religion) that introduces meditation, yoga, and stress reduction, plus an off-campus four-day retreat at Paradise Island, Bahamas for eligible participants.

 [Veterans Mentoring Program ](/offices/veterans/veterans-mentoring-program)Every new undergraduate student veteran is paired with a returning student veteran enrolled in a similar program of study. The mentor/mentee relationship builds bonds between vets, encourages involvement in campus life, and eases the transition to academic and civilian life. Alumni also participate through guest speaker series and networking opportunities.
